Is this some American pastime I’ve never heard of? Molly and I were annoyed when a couple of women two rows behind us on the bus back from Montreal were clipping their fingernails. It was going on for so long that we began to suspect it wasn’t nail clipping at all but some bus malfunction because no one has that many nails! But on our surreptitious walk to the back of the bus we witnessed the nefarious nail clipping with our own eyes.
Then after a stop in Albany where we picked up some great people for the trip to New York, an older man with his little daughter sat directly behind us and what did this man do but whip out his nail clippers and start on a manicure. Is this what people do when they’re stuck on a bus? Should we have joined in rather than cowing him with our evil stares?
These good folks were not nail clippers, just silent sleepers
